Persons with physical disabilities and able-bodied persons interested in assisting on this weekend.
Weekend retreat for physically disabled persons of all faiths provides an opportunity for a sharing of Christian beliefs in an atmosphere of trust, prayer, honesty and loving concern.
The purpose of the weekend is to raise awareness among disabled persons of the gifts which they bring to the Christian community. Able-bodied persons on the weekend also gain an insight into how they themselves are disabled in some ways.
The rhythm of the weekend is: presentation by team members; personal reflection and/or writing; small group sharing. The weekend is not a sensitivity session nor a cure-all. It is a confidential, supportive opportunity for persons to grow.
Thursday or Friday evening to Sunday afternoon; offered twice annually.
Age 17 or older, mentally and emotionally capable of participating in a weekend experience (at this time the weekend is not geared towards deaf or mentally retarded adults). Application required.
Peter (504) 421-1200 or Carol (504) 577-1415
